Marvin's back! Robert Culver and William LaRue Jones welcome the return of Marvin Rabin to the greatest team of conductor trainers ever!
Together, these masters have designed an intensive, challenging, supportive workshop experience.
String-playing and non-string-playing conductors of school orchestras as well as college, youth,
and community orchestras consistently give this workshop rave reviews.
Repertoire this year will included Beethoven's "Egmont" Overture, Op. 84, and Bloch's Concerto
Grosso No. 1 (string orchestra with piano obbligato). Podium time will
be videotaped and individually critiqued. Daily classes will help you
increase your conductoral clarity, technical power, efficiency, and gestural vocabulary. A
flexible curriculum meets the needs of new and returning participants.
Sessions on Rehearsal Techniques, Orchestral Bowing Skills, Tuning and Intonation, Rehearsal
Time Management, Conductor-Player Chemistry, Master Works Practicum, and Score Analysis will
complement the daily podium experiences.
Choral-Orchestral Dialogue, a session presented jointly by Dr. Jones and Eichenberger,
a special session on The Rehearsal/Lesson and the U.S. National Standards for Music Education by MENC Past Preident June Hinckley; the International String Orchestra; and other
selected relevant String Workshop offerings will round out your feature-rich experience.
